How to Replace the Inflation Valve with a Pressure Gauge on Your Paddle Board

Some early-release Triclicks TC-PRO Series paddle boards were shipped with an extra inflation valve in the position intended for the pressure gauge. Rest assured, your paddle board remains fully operational—we will ship a replacement pressure gauge to you free of charge, with no action required on your part to request it.

Why Was the Pressure Gauge Not Installed?

During our final quality assurance process, a batch of pressure gauges failed to meet Triclicks’ rigorous performance and accuracy standards. To avoid delaying delivery for our customers, we temporarily installed a second inflation valve in the slot reserved for the pressure gauge. This temporary solution does not affect the board’s functionality, and the replacement gauge will ensure you can monitor air pressure precisely moving forward.

🔧 How to Replace the Valve with a Pressure Gauge

Part 1: Removing the Temporary Air Valve

  1. Gather your tools: an octagonal wrench (included with your paddle board) and the replacement electronic pressure gauge (shipped separately).
  2. Inflate your paddle board to 3 psi—this slight inflation helps stabilize the valve area during removal.
  3. Twist open the knob on the rear air valve (the main inflation valve) to release any excess pressure buildup.
  4. Insert the octagonal wrench into the temporary valve’s base. With one hand, press firmly down on the top of the wrench to secure it; use your other hand to turn the wrench counterclockwise to loosen the valve base.
  5. As the board deflates slowly, press down firmly around the temporary valve with both palms until the surrounding material collapses slightly and the valve base sits flush with the board’s surface.
  6. Hold the valve base in place tightly with one hand to prevent shifting. Continue unscrewing the base with the wrench until the temporary valve is fully removed.

⚠️ Important Note: Do not release pressure on the valve base area until the new pressure gauge is fully installed—this prevents the board’s inner material from shifting out of place.

Part 2: Installing the Electronic Pressure Gauge

  1. Take the replacement electronic pressure gauge and align its threaded end with the empty valve hole.
  2. Screw the gauge into the hole by hand, turning clockwise steadily until it feels snug (do not overtighten with your hands alone).
  3. When hand-tightening is no longer possible, use the octagonal wrench to turn the gauge’s base clockwise an additional ¼ turn to secure it firmly.
  4. Open the front (main) air valve, attach your pump hose, and inflate the board to 3 psi—this slight inflation helps seat the gauge properly. Use the wrench to give the gauge a gentle final tighten to ensure a secure fit. Installation is now complete.

Part 3: Test for Leaks

  1. Prepare a solution of soapy water (mix 1 part dish soap with 4 parts water) and stir until foamy.
  2. Apply the foamy soapy water around the base of the new pressure gauge, ensuring the entire seam between the gauge and the board is covered.
  3. Observe the area closely for 1–2 minutes. If bubbles form, the gauge is not fully tightened—use the octagonal wrench to turn it clockwise slightly until bubbling stops.
  4. Once no leaks are detected, wipe the area clean with a soft cloth or rinse gently with fresh water to remove residual soap (this prevents damage to the board’s material over time).
